Maharashtra Elections: Aaditya Thackeray Attacks Eknath Shinde Govt Over Mismanagement Of Funds

Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray has sharply criticized the BJP-Shinde government for allegedly misusing public funds on unnecessary projects while neglecting critical issues affecting the people of Maharashtra. Speaking to reporters, Thackeray pointed to the ₹74 crore spent on painting the Metro system's walls, claiming that this money could have been better spent on essential services like farmers' welfare, road repairs, pensions, and healthcare.

Thackeray further raised concerns about the government's priorities, accusing them of prioritizing contractors over citizens' welfare. "There is no money for police housing or the old pension scheme, but there is plenty for contractors," he remarked. The Shiv Sena leader also highlighted a ₹74 crore tender that was issued before the completion of Metro work, alleging that the funds were directed towards contractors rather than the actual development of the infrastructure.

Additionally, Thackeray criticised the state government's handling of materials, stating that the paint used for the Metro walls had been rejected by the Chief Minister's Office (CMRS) in 2022. He questioned the transparency and integrity of the government's decisions, suggesting that these choices were made for ulterior motives.

As part of his campaign to expose alleged corruption in the government, Thackeray promised that the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) would take strict action against corrupt officials, including sending them to jail if found guilty of misusing public funds.

Thackeray also addressed the controversial statement made by Pankaja Munde, who had claimed that 90,000 workers from Gujarat were brought into Maharashtra to influence the elections. Echoing Munde's comments, Thackeray warned that a BJP win would effectively be a victory for Gujarat. This has further fueled the ongoing rivalry between Shiv Sena factions, as both sides continue to invoke the legacy of their late founder, Balasaheb Thackeray.

With the election campaign reaching its final phase, tensions between the factions have intensified, with both sides organizing rallies and rallies in an effort to sway voters. Despite several claims supported by documents, the truth behind these allegations remains unclear.

The results, which will be announced on November 23rd, will be crucial in determining the future of Shiv Sena. Observers across Maharashtra suggest that the contest between the factions will be tight, with the party's future direction and leadership hinging on which faction wins more seats out of the 288 available in the state.
