Maharashtra Election Tensions Rise: NCP Leader Sachin Kurmi Murdered In Mumbai’s Byculla
As Maharashtra gears up for its upcoming Assembly elections, the political atmosphere has taken a dark turn with recent incidents of violence. In a shocking event, Sachin Kurmi, a leader of the Ajit Pawar faction of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), was brutally attacked and killed last night in the Byculla area of Mumbai.
According to the Mumbai police, the attack occurred around 12:30 a.m. Kurmi was reportedly assaulted with sharp weapons by unknown assailants outside the MHADA colony. The police quickly responded to the distress call and arrived at the scene shortly after receiving the information.
Upon their arrival, the police immediately took Kurmi to the nearby JJ Hospital. Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead upon arrival. Following the incident, authorities registered a murder case and launched an investigation to find those responsible for this tragic event.
A spokesperson from the Mumbai Police shared details of the incident with India TV: "This incident happened around 12:30 in the midnight. As soon as the police got information about the incident, they reached the spot and took the injured Sachin to the nearby JJ Hospital, where the doctor declared Kurmi dead after examining him. The police have taken the body into custody and sent it for a post-mortem."
The police confirmed, "NCP (Ajit Pawar faction) leader Sachin Kurmi was murdered by unidentified persons using a sharp-edged weapon in Mumbai's Byculla area last night. A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway."
Investigation Underway
As investigations continue, the authorities are yet to identify the individuals responsible for the attack. Initial reports suggest that two to three people might have been involved in the incident, which has raised serious security concerns in the area. Local law enforcement agencies are conducting a thorough inquiry to gather more information.
As part of the investigation, the body has been sent for an autopsy, which will provide more clarity on the circumstances surrounding Kurmi's death. The emergence of this incident adds to the tension in the region as the election approaches, highlighting the need for heightened security measures in the run-up to the polls.
