Maharashtra's Deputy CM Fadnavis Takes Stand Against Banks Denying Farm Loans

Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has issued a stern warning to banks that refuse loans to farmers based on their CIBIL scores.

He stated that the government will not tolerate such behaviour from banks. Fadnavis ordered that banks should not deny loans to farmers during the Kharif season and warned of FIRs against those who do so.

Fadnavis Warns Banks on Farm Loan Denials

Fadnavis emphasised that all bank branches must be informed of this directive. His efforts aim to ease the difficulties farmers face in securing loans. He is also involved in discussions about seed and fertiliser availability in pre-Kharif meetings and reviewing crop insurance provisions.

Fadnavis is working to reduce the hurdles farmers encounter when trying to obtain loans. He has been actively discussing the availability of seeds and fertilisers in pre-Kharif meetings. Additionally, he is reviewing crop insurance provisions to ensure maximum coverage for farmers.

He appealed for a reduction in the use of DAP fertilisers and an increase in nano fertilisers. This move aims to ensure that a maximum number of farmers receive crop insurance. Fadnavis also warned of strict action against those leaking chemical fertilisers.

Good rainfall in most parts of Maharashtra has boosted agricultural activities. The government is working to provide farmers with the necessary seeds and fertilisers for Kharif sowing. However, farmers in areas with insufficient rainfall are still waiting for better conditions.

The Meteorological Department has issued a warning of heavy rainfall in the state until June 30. This forecast is crucial for planning agricultural activities and ensuring timely sowing.

Fadnavis's actions reflect his commitment to supporting farmers during the Kharif season. By addressing loan issues, fertiliser use, and crop insurance, he aims to create a more favourable environment for agriculture in Maharashtra.
