Maharashtra Assembly Election 2024: Will Uddhav Thackeray's Shiv Sena Regain Its Stronghold In Parner?
Following the Lok Sabha Elections of 2024, attention now turns to the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly Elections. A significant contest is expected between the Mahayuti alliance and the Mahavikas Aghadi coalition, with various aspirants emerging daily for a potential candidacy. Notably, the Mahavikas Aghadi faces challenges in the Parner Assembly Constituency in Ahmednagar district, raising concerns about its prospects in this area.
As the elections draw near, candidates from all parties are becoming increasingly active. In the well-known Parner Assembly Constituency, there are indications of fierce competition within the Mahavikas Aghadi. Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray has called for this constituency to be allocated to the Shiv Sena, highlighting its importance to the party.

Shiv Sena's Stronghold In Parner
Parner has historically been a stronghold for the Shiv Sena. The constituency's former MLA, Nilesh Lanke, resigned to contest in the Lok Sabha elections, where he successfully secured a seat. Lanke has suggested that his wife, Rani Lanka, will stand for election in his place. Currently, Rani Lanka is actively engaging with voters in the Parner Nagar constituency through various outreach programs. During the Lok Sabha elections, Shiv Sena played a crucial role in supporting Nilesh Lanke's victory.
Warnings Of Potential Rebellion
In light of the political dynamics, there are concerns about potential unrest among Shiv Sena supporters. Thackeray's group has issued a direct warning that if MP Nilesh Lanke does not relinquish the constituency for Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray's faction, it could lead to significant discontent among party members. The situation raises the question of who will ultimately secure the Mahavikas Aghadi's nomination in this key constituency.

Key Contender In Shevgaon-Pathardi
In the Shevgaon-Pathardi Assembly Constituency of Ahmednagar, the number of interested candidates is also on the rise. Former Zilla Parishad member Harshada Kakade has expressed her eagerness to contest in the upcoming elections, regardless of party affiliation.
Her candidacy could pose a substantial challenge to the incumbent BJP MLA, Monica Rajle. Despite not receiving nominations from the BJP in the 2014 and 2019 elections, Kakade is determined to run either under a different party banner or as an independent candidate.
As the elections approach, the political landscape in Maharashtra is becoming increasingly competitive, with party dynamics and candidate choices likely to shape the outcome.
