Maha CM Fadnavis Announces 10 New Local Trains Between Nerul, Belapur & Uran — Details Inside

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Friday announced the approval of 10 new suburban train services on the Uran route, describing the move as a "special gift for Mumbaikars." The approval, granted by the Ministry of Railways, includes services between Nerul-Uran and Belapur-Uran, with stoppages at Targhar and Gavhan stations, addressing long-standing demands from local commuters.

Sharing the official communication from the Railway Ministry on social media, CM Fadnavis thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for accepting his proposal to enhance suburban rail connectivity in Navi Mumbai. He said the new services would significantly benefit daily commuters, making travel faster and more convenient for residents of Navi Mumbai and surrounding areas.

Ten New Suburban Services Approved

According to the Railway Board's official communication dated 3 December 2025, a total of 10 new suburban services have been sanctioned on the port line route. These include 6 services between Belapur-Uran-Belapur. The decision follows a proposal sent by the Maharashtra government on 25 September 2025 seeking improved rail connectivity to ease public commuting.

Stoppages at Targhar and Gavhan Stations

The Railway Board has also approved stoppages at Targhar and Gavhan stations for the port line suburban services. This move is expected to provide relief to commuters in rapidly developing residential and industrial areas along the Uran corridor, who currently rely heavily on road transport for last-mile connectivity.

Faster Port Line Services

In addition to the new services and stoppages, the Ministry has sanctioned measures to speed up port line services on the Nerul-Uran and Belapur-Uran sections. Railway officials have been instructed to implement these changes at the earliest convenient date and to ensure public awareness through wide publicity.

Boost for Daily Commuters

CM Fadnavis welcomed the approval, stating that the additional services and new stoppages will reduce congestion, cut waiting times, and enhance overall travel convenience for thousands of daily commuters between Navi Mumbai and Uran.
