IMD Issues Yellow Alert For Maharashtra, Predicts Clear Skies For Mumbai; Lakes Water Level At 98.62%

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted mostly clear weather in Mumbai over the next few days, with some changes expected later in the evenings. Here's the detailed weather outlook for the city:

Today The day will start with a mainly clear sky, but towards the evening or night, it may become partly cloudy. The temperature will range between 26 and 34 degrees Celsius.

Mumbai Weather Forecast

October 10: A similar pattern is expected, with a mainly clear sky turning partly cloudy towards the evening or night. The temperature will range from 26 to 32 degrees Celsius.

October 11: Partly cloudy skies are forecasted for the afternoon or evening. The temperatures will hover between 26 and 33 degrees Celsius.

October 12: Another partly cloudy day towards the afternoon or evening, with temperatures expected between 27 and 34 degrees Celsius.

October 13: The sky will remain partly cloudy, with a possibility of rain or thunderstorms later in the day. The temperature will stay between 27 and 34 degrees Celsius.

October 14: Like the day before, partly cloudy skies with a chance of rain or thunderstorms are expected. The temperature will range from 27 to 33 degrees Celsius.

Maharashtra Weather Forecast

The IMD has issued a yellow alert for several regions in Maharashtra due to the possibility of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds 30 to 40 kilometres per hour. Here's a breakdown of the forecast:

Thunderstorms, lightning, and light to moderate rainfall are expected at isolated places in Thane, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Ahmednagar, Pune, Satara, and Sangli.

Thunderstorms with lightning are also expected at isolated places in Akola, Buldhana, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Wardha, Washim, and Yavatmal.

Mumbai Lakes Water Level

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) reported on X formerly known as Tweeter on Tuesday morning that the water levels in Mumbai's seven reservoirs, which provide the city with drinking water, have now reached 98.62 per cent of their total capacity. The combined water stock in these lakes currently stands at 14,27,461 million litres.

Mumbai's water supply comes from the following reservoirs: Upper Vaitarna, Middle Vaitarna, Bhatsa, Tansa, Vihar, Tulsi, and Modak Sagar. According to BMC's data:

Tansa holds 98.53 per cent of its water capacity.
Tulsi has 98.84 per cent of its water available.
Vihar has reached its full capacity, with 100 per cent of its water accessible.
Modak Sagar is almost full, with 99.99 per cent of its potable water ready for use.
Middle Vaitarna holds 99.30 per cent, Upper Vaitarna has 99.58 per cent, and Bhatsa has 99.35 per cent of their respective water stocks available.
