IMD Issues Warning For Ratnagiri, Kolhapur, And More As Mumbai Sees Cloudy Skies; Lakes Near Full Capacity
According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), the weather in Mumbai today, October 7, will be generally cloudy with light rain or drizzle. The temperature is expected to range between 27 and 35 degrees Celsius.
Mumbai Weather Forecast
Looking ahead, the weather in Mumbai will remain similar on October 8, with a cloudy sky and light rain or drizzle. Temperatures will again stay between 27 and 35 degrees Celsius. On October 9 and 10, the forecast predicts slightly cooler temperatures, ranging from 26 to 34 degrees Celsius, with a generally cloudy sky and light rain or drizzle continuing.
On October 11, the sky will be partly cloudy, and temperatures will range between 26 and 33 degrees Celsius. For October 12, the forecast shows a partly cloudy sky with a possibility of rain or thunderstorms, and temperatures will vary between 27 and 32 degrees Celsius.
Mumbai Regions Under Yellow Alert
The IMD has issued a yellow alert for several regions in Maharashtra, warning of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, light to moderate rainfall, and gusty winds of 30-40 kilometres per hour at isolated places. The affected areas include Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Kolhapur, Satara, Sangli, and Sholapur.
Mumbai Lakes Water Levels
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) shared on X, formerly known as Tweeter on Sunday morning that the water levels in Mumbai's seven reservoirs, which provide drinking water to the city, have reached 99.11 per cent of their total capacity. According to the BMC, the combined water stock in these lakes currently stands at 14,34,439 million litres.
Mumbai receives its water supply from the Upper and Middle Vaitarna, Bhatsa, Tansa, Vihar, Tulsi, and Modak Sagar lakes.

The BMC's data shows that Tansa Lake is at 98.65 per cent capacity, and Modak Sagar has 98.11 per cent of its water stock available. Middle Vaitarna is at 99.47 per cent, while Upper Vaitarna and Vihar are both at full capacity (100 per cent). Bhatsa is at 98.97 per cent, and Tulsi is at 98.94 per cent.
