Holi Rush Alert: Western Railway Imposes Restrictions On Platform Tickets – Check Which Stations Are Affected

Western Railway has introduced temporary restrictions on the sale of platform tickets at several important stations within its Mumbai Division, according to a Midday report. This measure aims to manage the expected surge in passenger traffic during the upcoming festive season. The restrictions came into effect immediately and will remain in place until March 16.

Vineet Abhishek, Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Railway, stated that platform ticket sales will be restricted at the following major stations:

This decision has been made to reduce congestion on platforms, ensuring the smooth movement of passengers and enhancing safety during the busy festive period. Overcrowded platforms pose safety risks and can cause delays in train operations, which is why this step is being taken.

Western Railway has also clarified that there will be certain exemptions. Passengers assisting senior citizens, elderly passengers, and women travellers will still be allowed access to the platforms without restrictions. This measure is designed to ensure ease of travel for these individuals.
