Good News! Navi Mumbai Residents: Report Potholes And Drains Via App Or WhatsApp

The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has upgraded its grievance redressal system, making it easier for residents to submit complaints through an enhanced mobile app and a newly launched WhatsApp service, according to the Hindustan Times (HT) report. These initiatives aim to address issues related to roads and drains more efficiently.

The revamped app, NMMC Daksh, will forward complaints directly to the contractor in charge of road repairs. The civic engineering department has committed to resolving such complaints within 24 hours. Residents can also use the dedicated WhatsApp number, 8424949888, to report road conditions, including potholes and drainage issues.

City Engineer Shirish Aradhwad stated in the HT report, "The NMMC Daksh app has been introduced to monitor ongoing projects and civic works. It is an improved version of the earlier app. Additionally, citizens can now use a designated WhatsApp number to register complaints about poor road conditions."

NMMC has also set up separate WhatsApp numbers for electricity and water supply grievances:

1. Electricity complaints: 8421033099
2. Water supply complaints: 8419900480

To submit a complaint, residents are required to provide corroborating pictures. These will be reviewed by the relevant engineering team, which will assign the necessary repair work to contractors responsible for annual maintenance. Once the work is completed, photographs will be uploaded on the app or WhatsApp, and the complaint will be closed following an inspection by the engineering department. For app submissions, residents will receive a receipt confirming the resolution.

This dual approach of modern technology and existing systems ensures that the NMMC is accessible to all residents for quick resolution of civic issues.
