Good News, Mumbaikars! Travel From Marine Drive To Worli In 12 Minutes
The Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj Mumbai Coastal Road (South) Project, spearheaded by the Municipal Corporation of Mumbai, is more than 90 per cent complete. With both tunnels of this road now open to traffic, the municipality is planning to connect the Bandra-Worli Sea Link to the Coastal Road. An additional northern stretch of the Coastal Road is set to be partially opened soon. The three-and-a-half kilometre stretch from Haji Ali to Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan Marg, just before the Bandra-Worli Sea Link, is ready for traffic and will be inaugurated shortly.
As a result, Mumbaikars will soon be able to travel directly from Marine Drive to Worli. Previously, the route from Marine Drive to Haji Ali had been opened. On Tuesday, Municipal Commissioner Bhushan Gagrani inspected the northern channel of the Coastal Road project, spanning approximately three and a half kilometres from Haji Ali to Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan Marg via the Rajiv Gandhi Sagari Setu. Coastal Road Chief Engineer Girish Nikam and Deputy Chief Engineer Mantaiya Swamy were also present during the inspection.

The installation of the Bow Sting Arch Girder, which connects Marine Drive to the Bandra-Worli Sea Link, was completed within a month. This feat involved constructing two beams (bow arch string girders) to link the Coastal Road (South) with the Bandra-Worli Sea Bridge.
Journey From Bandra To Worli
The journey from Bandra to Worli will soon be a seamless experience. However, commuters will have to wait until next month for this to become a reality. The Coastal Road Project is being completed in phases, with a total length of 10.58 kilometres. Both giant girders connecting the 4.5-kilometre stretch to the Bandra-Worli Sea Link have been successfully installed.
This development means that travelling from Bandra to South Mumbai will take just 12 minutes, significantly reducing travel time. Municipal Commissioner Bhushan Gagrani and Chief Engineer Girish Nikam inspected the progress of the North Channel of the Coastal Road Project on Tuesday.
Coastal Road Project Benefits
The Coastal Road Project is expected to save 70 per cent of travel time and reduce fuel consumption by 34 per cent. This will help alleviate traffic congestion in South Mumbai and on the Western Expressway, offering a more efficient and eco-friendly commute for Mumbaikars.
