Ganesh Utsav 2024: Special Trains Announced From Mumbai For Festival Rush; Details Inside
In preparation for the Ganesh Utsav 2024, the Central Railway has announced special trains from Mumbai to accommodate the anticipated increase in passengers during the festival period. The announcement was made on Tuesday, aiming to ease travel for devotees and festival-goers.
According to the Central Railway's statement, "All Ganesh devotees are informed that special trains will operate from various stations within the Mumbai division throughout the Ganesh festival. We encourage everyone to utilise these special trains for a comfortable journey."

The initiative is part of the Central Railway's efforts to manage the surge in passengers during the Ganesh festivities. The special trains will operate from different stations in Mumbai, providing additional services to ensure a smooth and pleasant travel experience.
Western Railway To Run Six Special Trains
In addition, the Western Railway has also announced special trains for the Ganpati festival. These trains will run between Mumbai and several destinations, with bookings opening from July 28 at all PRS counters and on the IRCTC website.
The special trains will cover the following routes:
- Mumbai Central to Thokur
- Mumbai Central to Sawantwadi Road
- Bandra Terminus to Kudal
- Ahmedabad to Kudal
- Vishvamitri to Kudal
- Ahmedabad to Mangaluru
The Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Railway, Vineet Abhishek, detailed the following information in a press release on Thursday:
Train No. 09001/09002 Mumbai Central - Thokur Weekly Special [6 Trips]
1. Train No. 09001: Departs from Mumbai Central every Tuesday at 12:00 hrs and arrives in Thokur at 08:50 hrs the following day. This train will run from September 3 to September 17, 2024.
2. Train No. 09002: Departs from Thokur every Wednesday at 11:00 hrs and reaches Mumbai Central at 07:05 hrs the next day. This service will operate from September 4 to September 18, 2024.
These trains will stop at multiple stations along the route, including Borivali, Vasai Road, Panvel, Roha, Mangaon, Veer, Karanjadi, Khed, Chiplun, Sangameshwar Road, Ratnagiri, Rajapur Road, Vaibhavwadi Road, Kankavali, Sindhudurg, Kudal, Sawantwadi Road, Thivim, Karmali, Madgaon, Karwar, Gokarna Road, Kumta, Murdeshwar, Mookambika Road Byndoor, Kundapura, Udupi, Mulki, and Surathkal.
The trains will feature AC 3-Tier, Sleeper Class, and General Second Class coaches, catering to a range of passenger needs.
Travellers are encouraged to plan their journeys in advance and take advantage of these special trains to ensure a hassle-free and enjoyable Ganesh Utsav 2024.
