BEST Enhances Bus Services For Mahalaxmi Temple Visitors During Navratri 2025

The Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport Undertaking (BEST) has announced the operation of extra buses to the Mahalaxmi Temple during Navratri. This service will run from September 22 to October 1, 2025. The additional buses aim to accommodate the surge in devotees visiting the temple for the nine-day festival. Adjustments in timings and frequency are made to align with peak hours, ensuring smooth transportation for pilgrims.

During Navratri, several key routes will have extra buses connecting different parts of Mumbai to the Mahalaxmi Temple. These routes include J. Mehta Marg to Kurla Station (West), Walkeshwar to P. Thakre Udyan (Sewree), Wadala Depot to Breach Candy Hospital, Byculla Station (West) to Breach Candy Hospital, S.G.M. Chowk (Satrasta) to Breach Candy Hospital, Mumbai Central Depot to Electric House, Colaba Bus Station to Santacruz Depot, Mumbai Central Depot to Shivaji Nagar Depot, and P. Thakre Udyan (Sewree) to Mahalaxmi Temple.

Navratri Celebrations at Mumbadevi and Mahalaxmi Temples

The Mumbadevi Temple commenced its Navratri celebrations with Mangala Aarti at 5:30 am on Monday. Devotees were welcomed for darshan following this ritual. The Ghatasthapana ceremony took place between 7 am and 8 am. Meanwhile, the Mahalaxmi Shrine will remain open daily from 5:30 am until 10 pm throughout the festival period.

Special events are planned during Navratri at these temples. On Panchami, which falls on Friday, September 26, a Deepotsav will be held from 6:00 pm to 6:30 pm. Additionally, on Navami, Wednesday, October 1, a Chandi Mahayagya is scheduled from 10:00 am to 5:30 pm.

Ensuring Safety and Security

Hemant Jadhav, manager of Mumbadevi Temple, stated that 21 pujaris will perform the Chandi Path daily during the festival. He assured that all necessary security measures are in place for a peaceful celebration. Jadhav encouraged devotees to visit Mumbadevi Temple in large numbers without fear and seek blessings from Mata Mumbadevi.

The additional bus services provided by BEST aim to facilitate easy travel for devotees attending prayers and celebrations at Mahalaxmi Temple during Navratri from September 22 to October 1, 2025.
