Devendra Fadnavis Slams Congress' 'Troll Army' For Personal Attacks On Wife: 'Sharam Aani Chahiye'

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has criticised Congress' "troll army" for making baseless accusations and targeting his wife, stating that the behaviour was so inappropriate that it would embarrass any civilised person.

"I told my wife that we are in politics, and patience is a virtue. We must stay calm. Lies don't last forever. The truth may face challenges, but it cannot be defeated," Fadnavis said in an interview with news agency ANI.

He expressed dismay at the conduct of those creating memes and posting inappropriate comments about his wife.

He said, "Jis prakar ka vyavhaar inhone kiya hai. Jis prakar se meri patni ke memes banana, uske baare mein gandi gandi baatein likhna. Ye saari cheezein. Sharam aani chahiye. Chullu bhar paani mein doob marna chahiye. Arey, ladna hai to saamne se lado." (The kind of behaviour they have exhibited-making memes about my wife and writing indecent things about her-should make them ashamed. They should reflect on their actions. If you want to challenge me, do it directly).

Fadnavis also stated that over the past five years, both he and his wife had endured significant personal attacks from opposition parties. He alleged that when they failed to find any faults in his professional life, they resorted to targeting him personally.

"From my hair to my nails, they investigated everything but found nothing. When they couldn't find anything, they turned to personal attacks," he said.

His remarks followed comments by Congress leader Kanhaiya Kumar, who, during a rally in Nagpur South West, mocked the Deputy CM by saying, "Common people will fight this 'dharmyudh' while leaders' children study abroad. Or will we fight to protect 'dharma' while the Deputy CM's wife makes Instagram reels?"

Earlier, on Saturday, Fadnavis had called for Hindu unity, urging voters to participate in what he referred to as a "vote dharmyudh" to counter what he described as "vote jihad."

He alleged that "vote jihad" had occurred during the Lok Sabha elections, claiming that members of a particular community intentionally withheld their votes from the BJP. He attributed the Mahayuti's loss in the Dhule Lok Sabha seat to this voting pattern in areas like Malegaon.

On November 20, Maharashtra will witness an electoral contest between the ruling Mahayuti alliance, comprising the BJP, Shiv Sena, and NCP, and the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi, led by Congress, Shiv Sena, and NCP.
