Delhi-Mumbai Expressway To Cut Gurugram-Vadodara Travel Time To 10 Hours
Travellers will soon be able to drive from Gurugram (Haryana) to Vadodara (Gujarat) in just 10 hours due to the Delhi- Mumbai Expressway, India's longest and most modern highway. This significant reduction in travel time is made possible by the expressway's key section near Kota, Rajasthan, which enables vehicles to maintain higher speeds.
The distance between Gurugram and Vadodara is approximately 950 kilometres. Traditionally, this journey takes between 20 and 22 hours, but with the expressway, travel time will be slashed by more than half. The expressway spans a total of 1,380 kilometres, making it the longest expressway in India, and will allow vehicles to travel at speeds of up to 120 kilometres per hour. This will not only save time but also help drivers conserve fuel, making the journey both quicker and more efficient.

According to reports from The Times of India (TOI), the expressway is being constructed with an investment of Rs 95,000 crore. It passes through six states: Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, and Maharashtra. The project aims to enhance connectivity across the country, facilitating faster travel between major cities.
Apart from improving travel convenience, the Delhi- Mumbai Expressway is also designed with sustainability in mind. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is incorporating green technologies during construction to minimize its environmental impact. Special measures have been taken to protect wildlife along the route, particularly in areas near the Mukundra Hills Tiger Reserve. The expressway includes animal corridors, tunnels, and noise barriers to reduce disturbances to animals and preserve their natural habitats.
The entire expressway is expected to be fully operational by October 2025, promising a quicker, safer, and more eco-friendly travel experience.
