Congress Leader Mohd Arif Khan Resigns

"MVA (Maha Vikas Aghadi) has not nominated a single Muslim candidate in Maharashtra. I am upset with the party's unfair decision...," he writes, as reported by ANI.

In the letter, Khan shared reasons for stepping down from the Congress party. While expressing gratitude for including his name in the list of star campaigners for the fourth phase of the general elections of Lok Sabha Maharashtra, he informed that campaigning for the party candidates in Maharashtra during the third, fourth, and fifth phases will not be undertaken due to various reasons.

Here are the following reasons:

Firstly, the decision not to nominate a single Muslim candidate in Maharashtra by M.V.A (Maha Vikas Aghadi) and Congress has left me upset and disappointed. Concerns have been raised by many Muslim organizations, leaders, and party workers who expected at least one Muslim candidate to be nominated.

Secondly, he shared in the letter that Questions are being raised about why Congress is seeking Muslim votes but not fielding any Muslim candidates.

In the past, election responsibilities in various states for the party, including Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Goa, West Bengal, Karnataka, Telangana, Maharashtra, and others, have been diligently executed.

However, given the current situation and the inability to address the concerns of Muslims and Muslim organizations in Maharashtra, the decision has been made to not participate in campaigning for the party during the Lok Sabha elections 2024 and to resign from the campaign committee of the Maharashtra Lok Sabha elections 2024.
