Bombay High Court Approves Anticipatory Bail For Dilip And Pooja Khedkar In Kidnapping Case

The Bombay High Court has granted anticipatory bail to Dilip Khedkar and his daughter, Pooja Khedkar, in the kidnapping case of Pralhad Kumar Chauhan. This decision offers relief to the Khedkar family after a trial court previously denied them bail. Justice Nitin Borkar reviewed arguments from both sides before approving the bail request.

According to police reports, the incident occurred on September 13 following a minor collision on Mulund–Airoli Road. A cement mixer truck and an SUV, specifically a Land Cruiser, were involved. The truck's helper, Pralhad Kumar Chauhan, and its driver were asked to pay for damages. When they refused, Dilip Khedkar and driver Praful Salunkhe allegedly forced Chauhan into the SUV.

Conditions Imposed by the Court

The court has set conditions for granting bail. Within six weeks, Dilip Khedkar and Pooja Khedkar must deposit ₹4 lakh as compensation to the victim. Additionally, they are required to contribute ₹1 lakh to the Police Welfare Fund. These conditions aim to ensure accountability while allowing them temporary freedom.

Chauhan later informed police that he was taken to Khedkar's bungalow in Pune. There, he was confined in a watchman's room and fed stale food. He also claimed he was threatened with harm if he did not pay for the alleged damage caused by the accident.
