BMW Accident: Mumbai Police Arrests Shiv Sena Leader's Son Mihir Shah

Mumbai on Tuesday arrested Muhur Shah, son of Shiv Sena leader Rajesh Shah, two days after he allegedly crashed his BMW into a two-wheeler, resulting in the death of a woman and injuring her husband. The 24-year-old had been on the run since the incident.

Shah's father was reportedly involved in aiding his son's escape and had plans to remove the vehicle involved in the crash. The accident occurred on Sunday morning in Mumbai's Worli area, where Kaveri Nakhwa (45) was killed and her husband Pradeep was injured.

The Mumbai police formed 11 teams and enlisted the Crime Branch to capture Mihir Shah. A Look Out Circular (LOC) was also issued against him. Rajesh Shah and their driver, Rajrishi Bidawat, were previously arrested in connection with the case.

Rajesh Shah and Bidawat were presented in a Mumbai court on Monday. Rajesh received bail after being remanded in 14-day judicial custody, while Bidawat was given one day police custody. On Tuesday, Bidawat's police custody was extended until July 11.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said that no one would be exempt from justice. "No one, whether rich, influential, or the offspring of bureaucrats or ministers, affiliated with any party, will have immunity as long as I am the chief minister," Shinde stated.

Mihir Shah was eventually arrested near Mumbai. His father's involvement in ensuring his escape highlights the lengths to which some individuals may go to evade accountability.

Meanwhile, a Mumbai court on Tuesday extended till July 11 the police custody of the driver Rajrishi Bidawat, who was sitting in the luxury car with prime accused in the case Mihir Shah (24) at the time of the crash on Sunday morning in central Mumbai's Worli area.

The incident occurred when deceased Kaveri Nakhwa was going with her husband Pradip on the arterial Annie Besant Road when the luxury car's driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed it into the couple's two-wheeler around 5.30 am.

The accused persons have been booked under various sections, including 105 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), according to the police.
