BJP and Supriya Sule Clash Over 'Crypto Funds for Polls' Allegations

Supriya Sule, a leader from NCP (SP), and Nana Patole, the Maharashtra Congress chief, find themselves at the center of a controversy involving allegations of illegal cryptocurrency dealings aimed at influencing the Maharashtra Assembly elections outcome in favor of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA).

BJP Sudhanshu Trivedi has levied these accusations, suggesting the involvement of both politicians in a scheme to use bitcoin transactions for electoral gain. However, Sule has rebuffed these claims, attributing them to the BJP's penchant for "cheap politics."

During a press briefing, Sudhanshu Trivedi brought to light purported evidence to support his claims against Sule and Patole. He presented voice recordings that he alleges capture a conversation involving a former police commissioner and a dealer planning to carry out illegal bitcoin transactions at the behest of "big people," purportedly referring to Patole and Sule.

Despite the former police officer's initial refusal to participate, the dealer allegedly persisted, eventually providing an audio clip to convince him of the high-profile nature of the operation. Trivedi also displayed screenshots of messages between the dealer and the former police official, which suggested a financial need for the elections connected to the MVA leaders.

In her defense, Supriya Sule strongly dismissed the accusations, framing them as an attempt by the BJP to malign her and her associates through unfounded claims. This denial sets the stage for a heated exchange between the two parties, with Sule accusing the BJP of stooping to a new low in political conduct.

"A very serious and concerning facts have come to light that are exposing MVA's corruption bit by bit, and it is a serious question about free and fair elections," emphasized Trivedi in his allegations, indicating a deeper political rift that may have implications on the integrity of the electoral process in Maharashtra.
