Mumbai, Sept 30: After addressing the Vikas Rally in New Delhi on Sunday, BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi will attend the International Advertising Association (IAA) Platinum Jubilee Global Marketing Summit in Mumbai on Monday afternoon.

The BJP has planned a massive reception for the Gujarat chief minister at the Mumbai airport. This will be Modi's first visit to the financial capital after his elevation in the party ranks.

Modi will also inaugurate the Mumbai Diamond Merchant Association's Diamond Hall at the Bharat Diamond Bourse in Bandra-Kurla Complex and attend another industry function later in the evening.

Modi will be engaging more in Maharashtra for it's a crucial state for 2014

Sources in the BJP said the projection of Modi will bring together the corporate world, party workers and common men to support him. They also said that Modi is likely to engage more in Maharashtra since the state sends 48 members to the Lok Sabha (next only to Uttar Pradesh).

In 2009, the BJP-Shiv Sena combination won just 20 of the 48 seats while 25 went to the Congress-NCP alliance mainly because of Raj Thackeray's Maharashtra Navnirman Sena, which ate into the opposition votes. Modi will also keep an eye on the Lok Sabha seats in Mumbai where his party and the Sena fared pathetically last time.
