A Slice Of New York In Thane: 20.5 Acres Of Central Park's Grand Opening On February 8
Thane, Maharashtra, known for its beautiful lakes, is about to add another jewel to its crown: the sprawling Grand Central Park, a public haven spanning 20.5 acres in the Kolshet area. The park is set to be inaugurated by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on February 8th, offering a much-needed green escape for Thane residents.
Scheduled for inauguration on February 8, a 20-acre park developed by civic authorities in Thane's Kolshet area will offer a range of recreational spaces, featuring 3,500 diverse tree species. Nestled between the Ulhas River Creek and Sanjay Gandhi National Sanctuary, the Grand Central Park is a key component of the Thane Municipal Corporation's Suvidha Plot Development Project. During a guided tour of the park, Thane Additional Municipal Commissioner Sandeep Malavi highlighted the various facilities to the media.

Situated within Kalpataru Parkcity at Kolshet, the 20.5-acre park will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Wednesday. Boasting 3,500 different tree species, the park is designed to captivate visitors of all ages, featuring themed gardens inspired by Mughal, Chinese, Moroccan, and Japanese styles. Sandeep Malvi, Additional Commissioner (1) of the Municipal Corporation, shared that the park includes amenities such as play areas for children, a jogging track, the largest skating yard, lawn tennis and volleyball courts.
The park also houses a substantial amphitheatre, cafeteria, and restroom facilities. Suited for school trips and environmental outings, the park preserves existing trees while planting new ones. Thane Municipal Corporation executed the development under the Suvidha Plot Development Project.
An inspection tour for journalists was conducted on Monday, attended by former corporator Sanjay Bhowir, Deputy Commissioner (Parks) Mithali Sancheti, and others.
