No DJ On Roads, Loud Music, Rash Driving: UP Police Issues Strict Holi Guidelines

Ahead of Holi celebrations, Agra police have rolled out a strict safety plan to prevent violence, reckless driving and public disorder. Authorities said the focus this year is to avoid casualties and maintain communal harmony, especially as major festivals fall close together.

Two-Day Sector Scheme And Road Restrictions

Police confirmed that a sector policing system will operate in the city zone for two days during Holi. Roads cannot be blocked for dancing or by installing loud music systems, and traffic movement must remain uninterrupted.

Officials also cautioned that anyone found harassing commuters will face action. The Local Intelligence Unit has been deployed in mixed-population neighbourhoods and station heads have been directed to identify sensitive locations where disputes were reported in previous years.

Police Commissioner Deepak Kumar said, "Let there be no bloodshed during Holi. No one should lose their life in road accidents."

He added that checkpoints will be installed across the city to control speeding and drunken driving. Vehicles may be seized if three or four youths are found riding a two-wheeler.

Checking Drunk Driving And Old Rivalries

Authorities have ordered a review of the last five years of Holi-related clashes to determine whether old enmities still exist. Police say complaints often arise from youths occupying roads, playing loud music and engaging in unruly behaviour.

According to the Commissioner, police deployment will begin from the evening of Holika Dahan and patrol teams will remain visible on main routes and neighbourhood streets.

Public Advisory And Community Coordination

Residents have been advised not to throw balloons at passers-by or force colours on unwilling participants. People should not drive after consuming alcohol and must not misbehave with police personnel on duty. Celebrations should be limited to friends and family, preferably using herbal colours.

A coordination meeting involving community representatives was also held regarding Ramzan, Eid and Holi. Dr Siraj Qureshi stated Muslim volunteers would be present at Holika Dahan points, while Adnan Qureshi highlighted drinking water issues. Mohammad Sharif appealed to citizens to ignore rumours and maintain peace.

Past Casualties Prompt Tough Measures

Police data shows why the administration is taking a firm stance. In 2024, Agra recorded ten deaths during the two-day Holi period, including one murder and nine road accident fatalities. In 2025, three people lost their lives in accidents and about a dozen youths were injured.

Officials believe strict enforcement, public cooperation and early deployment can help ensure this year's festival remains safe rather than tragic.
