Easy Mushroom Fried Rice Recipe, A Quick And Healthy Option With Perfect Dinners
Mushroom fried rice is a delicious and easy-to-make dish that can be prepared in a short amount of time. It's a versatile recipe, perfect for a quick lunch or dinner, and can be customized with your favorite vegetables and seasonings.
The combination of mushrooms with fragrant rice, soy sauce, and a medley of vegetables creates a delightful harmony of flavors and textures. This step-by-step guide will walk you through the process of making a perfect mushroom fried rice that is sure to please everyone at the table.

Ingredients
- 2 cups of cooked rice (preferably cold)
- 1 cup of sliced mushrooms (any variety)
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 carrot, diced
- 1/2 cup of peas (fresh or frozen)
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons of soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon of oyster sauce (optional)
- 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil
- 2 eggs (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 green onions, chopped for garnish
- Sesame seeds for garnish (optional)
How To Prepare
1. Cold, cooked rice works best for fried rice as it helps to prevent the dish from becoming mushy. If you don't have leftover rice, cook fresh rice and spread it on a baking sheet to cool. Refrigerate the rice for at least an hour to get the right texture for frying.
2. Wash and slice the mushrooms. Finely chop the onion, mince the garlic, and dice the carrot. If you are using fresh peas, blanch them in boiling water for a couple of minutes until tender. If you are using frozen peas, simply thaw them.
3. Heat a large frying pan or wok over medium-high heat. Add the vegetable oil and let it get hot. A hot pan is essential for achieving that perfect fried rice texture.
4. Add the minced garlic and chopped onion to the hot pan. Sauté for a couple of minutes until the onion becomes translucent and the garlic is fragrant. Be careful not to burn the garlic, as it can turn bitter.
5. Add the sliced mushrooms to the pan. Cook them for about 5-7 minutes until they are browned and have released their moisture. Stir occasionally to ensure even cooking.
6. Once the mushrooms are cooked, add the diced carrot and peas to the pan. Stir-fry for a few minutes until the vegetables are tender but still crisp. This adds a nice texture and color to the dish.
7. If you are using eggs, push the vegetables to one side of the pan and crack the eggs into the empty space. Scramble the eggs until they are fully cooked, then mix them with the vegetables. If you prefer a vegetarian version, you can skip this step.
8. Add the cold, cooked rice to the pan. Break up any clumps of rice with a spatula or spoon. Toss the rice with the vegetables and mushrooms, making sure everything is well combined.
9. Pour the soy sauce and oyster sauce (if using) over the rice mixture. Stir well to ensure that the sauce is evenly distributed throughout the rice. Taste and adjust the seasoning with salt and pepper as needed. Be mindful of the saltiness of the soy sauce when adding extra salt.
10. Once the rice is evenly coated with the sauce and heated through, remove the pan from the heat. Transfer the mushroom fried rice to a serving dish. Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds for a touch of freshness and crunch.
