Basic Lasagna Recipe: A Simple And Delicious Italian Pasta Dish
Lasagna is a classic Italian dish loved for its rich layers of pasta, cheese, and tomato sauce. - 6 eggs, separated
- 2 cups ricotta cheese or shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese
- 1 pinch of salt
- ¼ teaspoon freshly-ground white pepper
- ½ cup heavy cream
- 1000 g cooked lasagne noodles
- 1 ½ cups Italian tomato sauce

- Large stainless steel bowl
- Roasting pan
- Aluminium foil
- Oven
Procedure
- In a large, clean stainless steel bowl, whip the egg whites until stiff peaks form. Set aside.
- In another bowl, combine the egg yolks, cheese, salt, pepper, and heavy cream.
- Gently fold the whipped egg whites into the cheese mixture.
- Lay half of the cooked noodles in the bottom of a roasting pan. Add a layer of tomato sauce on top, followed by a layer of the cheese mixture.
- Repeat the layering process with the remaining noodles, tomato sauce, and cheese mixture. Ensure the final layer is cheese.
- Cover the pan with aluminium foil and bake at 375°F (190°C) for 15 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 20 minutes.
- Remove from oven and let it rest for 10 minutes before serving.
