Who leaked Tapas Pal's statement in media, Mamata govt on the hunt

Kolkata, July 4: West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress (TMC) did not take any step against her party MP Tapas Pal for threatening to rape women in the Opposition but her administration has begun a hunt for those who have allegedly handed the footage over to the media.

According to a report published in Bengali news channel ABP Ananda, a sub-inspector of Nakashipara Police Station in Nadia district has been given the charge to find out who is responsible for leaking the video footage in the media. The concerned police inspector has already started interrogating villagers. Civic police personnel have already been deployed to trace the ‘culprits' by using their informal connections. The mood is quite tense all around for everybody is worried about what is going to happen next.

Pal, the MP from Krishnagar in Nadia district, was found making explosive statements targeting the Opposition in various villages in the district. At Choumuha, he even threatened to send his boys to rape the women in the Opposition. He also threatened to shoot and butcher the Opponents.

The administration is checking mobile phones of locals and interrogating them

The statements were recorded in mobile phone and were leaked in the media. The police are now searching for the ‘culprit'. Mobile phones of villagers are being checked and supporters of Opposition parties are being constantly interrogated, causing much tension.
