Bengal play groups fear backlash, refuse to hire Tapas Pal

Video footages of Pal threatening the Opposition with words like 'rape' and 'murder' in Nakashipara in his constituency Krishnanagar in Nadia district of West Bengal became viral, leading to a massive controversy across the nation. The party leadership let Pal off after an apology but the national media, opposition parties and rights bodies were not convinced and wanted his ouster.
Tapas Pal openly threatened that his boys would rape women in Opposition
The Kolkata-based play groups which rope in Pal every year for their shows have decided against hiring him this year after the rape remark fiasco. They fear that the MP's security could be under threat during the performance, putting them in trouble, the report said. The situation is so serious that even no member of the ruling party has expressed interest in inviting him.
Sources in the play group regretted Pal's rape remark.
