Shocker: 7-year-old found hanging from a tree in WB

, July 24: Just as we were coping up with the news of the six-year-old being raped in Bangalore and students being assaulted by their teachers in Andhra Pradesh, comes another shocker from

, where the body of a seven-year-old was found hanging from a tree.

As retaliation, villagers attacked a local tantric who they suspected of assaulting her. The tantric later died in the hospital today.

Villagers allege that the girl may have been physically assaulted before she was hanged. They said that she went missing from her home on Wednesday evening.

The village to which the belongs is simmering with tension. Anti-riot police is guarding the area as a precaution to avoid any untoward incident.

Incidents of crime against women have increased in the past few weeks. Badaun in UP witnessed a similar incident where two teenage cousins were found hanging from a tree. It was alleged that they were raped and then hanged from the tree.
