At Kolkata's Red Road Eid ul Fitr prayers, CM Mamata Banerjee criticized the Centre and BJP over alleged voter list deletions, while Abhishek Banerjee urged unity, using the event as a platform for both religious celebration and political messaging.

She was accompanied by Abhishek Banerjee, the All India General Secretary of the Trinamool Congress.

The gathering turned into both a festive and political platform, where messages of faith, unity, and strong political opinions were shared.

Mamata Banerjee's Message During Eid Address

After the Eid prayers, Mamata Banerjee addressed the gathering and delivered a speech that combined poetry, blessings, and political remarks.

She said,

"Sarfaroshi ki tamanna ab hamaare dil mein hai, dekhna hai zor kitna baazu-e-qatil mein hai... May Allah bless you... May India and Bengal prosper. Those who target Bengal can go to hell..."

"Khudi ko kar buland itna ki har taqdeer se pehle, khuda bande se khud pooche, bata teri raza kya hai..."

"We have just one intent - to remove BJP and protect the nation."

Her statement reflected both festive greetings and her strong political stance.

Raises Concerns Over Voter Registration (SIR)

Mamata Banerjee also spoke strongly about the ongoing voter registration exercise (SIR) in West Bengal, claiming that many names have been removed from the voter list.

She said,
"Many names have been deleted in SIR. I am fighting for that. I went to court. My fight will continue for everyone."

Adding further details about the legal steps taken, she stated:

"Names of many have been removed in SIR. We approached the Kolkata High Court and then to the Supreme Court in Delhi seeking justice. We still hope that people's rights will be protected. We stand with all citizens-with every community, every caste, and every state. You are a member of one family, and we will continue to stand and work for you. If there is any obstacle in the path of progress and light, then we will remove it. They are trying to control our government. Even if they impose President's Rule, we will still say the same thing - 'jo darte hain wo marte hain...'"

Sharp Attack on Centre and PM Modi

Mamata Banerjee also criticised the central government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, calling him the "biggest intruder."

She said,
"We will not let Modi take away our rights. When he goes to Saudi Arabia and shakes hands, goes to Dubai and hugs, don't you remember the Hindu-Muslim thing? When he comes to the country, he remembers the deletion of names."

At the same time, she clarified that countries like Saudi Arabia and Dubai remain friendly nations to India.

Strong Political Attack on BJP

During her address, Mamata Banerjee also launched a strong attack on the BJP, accusing it of creating division and attempting to take away people's rights. She reiterated her commitment to opposing the party and protecting the interests of citizens in the state.

Abhishek Banerjee Calls for Unity and Harmony

Speaking at the same event, Abhishek Banerjee focused on a message of unity and harmony, urging people to rise above differences.

He said,

"Everyone has to be united for humanity. It is important that the harmony of Bengal remains intact. There is Ram in Ramadan and Ali in Diwali."

He also highlighted shared cultural connections, noting that festivals like Karva Chauth and Eid are linked through common traditions such as observing the moon.

Warning Against Division and Fear

Abhishek Banerjee strongly criticised any attempts to create fear or divide communities.
He said,

"To those who think that they will erase people's names from the list, make people homeless and expel them from the country-those who want to create division among brothers-I want to say to them that no one will ever bow their heads."

The Eid gathering at Red Road became more than a religious celebration, turning into a platform for political messaging. While Mamata Banerjee raised concerns over voter registration and targeted the central government, Abhishek Banerjee focused on unity and harmony.

The event highlights how public celebrations in India often carry both cultural and political importance, especially during times of heightened political activity.
