Mamata Banerjee inaugurates store offering all best from Bengal

on Saturday inaugurated the first of the Biswa Bangla showrooms located at Kolkata airport through remote control at a public event in Raidighi in South 24 Parganas district.

The store, which will have the best products from the state, will be opened from February 26. The chief minister wrote on her Facebook page: "The Biswa Bangla store brings to you Bengals heritage and products with GI. It will provide wider markets within and outside India to the States artisans, weavers, micro and small entrepreneurs."

Food and famous sweet items from the state, dress items, decorative goods, handicraft, books, music and movie CDs will be available at the store.

Banerjee's Trinammol Congress government has faced flak for not being able to speed up the industrialisation process in almost three years since it came to power. Banerjee, however, remained unfazed by such criticism and stressed development of small and medium-scale industries in the state.
