Mamata Banerjee Criticizes BJP For Inciting Communal Tensions In West Bengal
In her first visit to the district since the communal violence last month, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee accused the BJP-led central government on Monday of blocking her meetings with riot victims in Murshidabad. Banerjee claimed that in order to prevent them from meeting with her, the BJP has forcibly moved riot-affected families to unnamed locations.
"In order to prevent the families of those impacted by the riots from meeting me, the BJP removed them. This is kidnapping, isn't it? Speaking at a public event in Murshidabad, Banerjee asked. "What harm would it have done if I had met them here and handed them checks?" she asked, expressing her aggravation at not being able to personally provide recompense to the victims.

Mamata Banerjee Attacks BJP Over Communal Tensions
Banerjee also denounced the recent attacks on Bengali migrant workers in Odisha, in addition to her remarks regarding Murshidabad. She referred to the acts as "unacceptable and shameful," voicing serious concerns about the security of the migrant labour force in Bengal. To work and provide for their families, they leave their houses. Banerjee urged the Odisha government and the Centre to act quickly to protect the workers, saying, "They deserve protection, not violence."
National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) Criticized by Banerjee
The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) was also criticised by Banerjee, who charged it of selective interference. She noted that although the NHRC had swiftly travelled to Murshidabad following the riots, it had said nothing about the violence in Manipur and comparable instances in Uttar Pradesh, which is dominated by the BJP. "What prevented the NHRC from travelling to Uttar Pradesh or Manipur? "It appears that the move was pre-planned given their abrupt arrival here immediately following the riots," Banerjee said.
Call for National Security Focus Over Communal Violence
Banerjee criticised the BJP even further and urged the Centre to put national security ahead of escalating intercommunal violence. She emphasised, "Efforts must be taken to protect our borders instead of inciting communal violence," reminding the government of its constitutional obligation to guarantee peace and security for all residents.
Exposing the Murshidabad Violence Conspiracy
Banerjee promised to reveal the plot behind the Murshidabad riots as she wrapped up her speech. "I will reveal the truth to the media after uncovering the majority of the plot. She said, "The BJP is dividing people and spreading lies."
Her remarks draw attention to the continuous political struggle between the TMC and the BJP as well as the worsening religious tension in West Bengal. The heated antagonism between the two parties has escalated further since Banerjee's visit to Murshidabad, and it appears that the verbal battle is far from done.
