Kolkata Law College Rape: Accused Blackmailed Victim For Rejecting Marriage Proposal, Made Videos Of Act
A student from South Calcutta Law College, who was allegedly gangraped on campus, has revealed that she had previously rejected a marriage proposal from the main accused.
The 24-year-old woman alleged that she was assaulted by three individuals in the college's guard room. The main accused, Monojit Mishra, is reportedly linked to the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC).

According to her complaint, reported by India Today, 31-year-old Mishra had pressured her into marrying him. She refused, stating she was already in a relationship.
She further alleged that Mishra threatened to harm her boyfriend and falsely implicate her parents in criminal cases. He then allegedly confined her within the college premises and subjected her to assault, leaving her injured despite her attempts to resist.
Sequence of Events
Police stated that the survivor had gone to the college around 4 PM on Wednesday for official work. Mishra allegedly asked her to stay back. Later that evening, between 7:30 PM and 10:50 PM, the three accused reportedly dragged her into the guard room on the ground floor, where the alleged assault took place.
"They tried to force me with the intention of having sex. I denied and fought back by not letting him do anything and pushing him back. I cried and asked him to let me go. I told them I have a boyfriend and I love my boyfriend. But they did not agree," the woman said in her complaint.
She added that she begged for mercy, even going as far as to touch the accused's feet, but her pleas were ignored. The group allegedly filmed the assault and used the footage to blackmail her into silence.
"They recorded videos of mine when the accused was raping me. They threatened me to show these videos to everyone if I do not cooperate."
The survivor stated she had a panic attack, struggled to breathe, and asked to be taken to hospital, but the accused refused. She also claimed the college gate was locked, and the security guard did not come to her aid.
When she attempted to leave, the group allegedly tried to hit her with a hockey stick. She was eventually allowed to exit the premises, though under threats of further harm.
Arrests Made
Following the registration of an FIR at Kasba Police Station, three individuals were arrested, including Monojit Mishra, who is said to be a former student and currently the general secretary of the South Kolkata district unit of the Trinamool Congress Chhatra Parishad (TMCP), the student wing of the TMC.
The two other accused have been identified as Zaib Ahmed (19), a first-year student, and Pramit Mukherjee alias Pramit Mukhopadhyay (20), also a current student of the college.
