Kolkata College Rape Case: Manojit Mishra Caught On Camera Dragging Survivor Inside Campus

In a chilling development in the Kolkata law college rape case, CCTV footage has surfaced showing the survivor being forcibly dragged into the college premises by two of the accused, including Manojit Mishra, on June 25, 2025. The footage directly supports the survivor's version of events and marks the third time she has accused the same individuals of sexual assault.

The visuals show the survivor walking with a bag near the college gate when she is intercepted by Mishra and another accused. The two men are seen dragging her into the college compound. While there are no cameras inside the union room or the guard's cabin-where the assault allegedly took place-the footage captures the movement of the accused before and after the incident.

According to investigators, the assault occurred in the guard's room on the college campus. A hockey stick, allegedly used to hit the survivor after the assault, has been recovered from the scene. Police have also seized the clothes worn by Mishra on the day of the incident.

In a more disturbing revelation, police found a video of the assault on Mishra's mobile phone. The video, allegedly filmed by co-accused Zaib Ahmed and Pramit Mukherjee at Mishra's behest, clearly shows the survivor's face and is believed to have been recorded for blackmail. The footage has been sent for forensic analysis.

Medical reports have confirmed signs of sexual assault. The survivor was found to have suffered forceful penetration along with multiple injury marks, including abrasions on her neck and chest, bite marks, and nail scratches.

Investigators believe the motive behind the assault may have been the survivor's rejection of a marriage proposal from Mishra. She had reportedly told him she was already in a relationship and had no intention of betraying her boyfriend.

The investigation has also uncovered more digital evidence. Police found morphed images of other female students on Mishra's phone, which were reportedly shared in WhatsApp groups. This points to a possible broader pattern of harassment within the campus community, and police are probing these links further.

So far, four people have been arrested in connection with the case. Mishra, the primary accused, has been charged with rape. Pramit Mukherjee and Zaib Ahmed have been taken into custody for allegedly filming and facilitating the assault. The college security guard has also been arrested for failing to act during the incident.

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) assigned to the case has now been expanded. More than seven hours of CCTV footage have been reviewed, and the survivor has been taken to the college for a crime scene reconstruction as part of the investigation.

The case has sparked widespread outrage across the city and has brought the issue of campus safety and institutional accountability under sharp scrutiny. Calls for stricter security measures and more robust mechanisms to address sexual harassment in educational institutions have grown louder in the wake of this incident.
