Fog Forces PM Modi’s Chopper to Abort Landing in Bengal, Returns to Kolkata

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's scheduled visit to West Bengal's Nadia district faced disruption on Saturday afternoon after dense fog prevented his helicopter from landing, forcing it to return to Kolkata.

Fog Disrupts Helicopter Landing Attempt

According to officials, the Prime Minister's helicopter attempted to land at the Taherpur helipad in Nadia but was unable to do so due to poor visibility caused by heavy fog. The chopper reportedly hovered over the helipad for some time before the pilot decided to abort the landing.

Chopper Forced to Return to Kolkata

With visibility failing to improve, the helicopter made a U-turn and returned safely to Kolkata Airport, officials said. The weather conditions in the region continued to remain unfavourable at the time of the attempted landing.

Decision on Road Travel Awaited

Following the aborted landing, Prime Minister Modi remained at the Kolkata airport. Until the latest updates, a decision was still pending on whether he would proceed to Nadia by road as an alternative arrangement to continue his visit.
