Who Won 1st Prize In Kerala Bumper Monsoon Lottery? The 11 Women From Haritha Karma Sena

Sometimes, life has a strange way of throwing surprises. This is true in the case of 11 members from Haritha Karma Sena, the green army under the Parappanangadi Municipality, as they won Rs 10 crore lottery.

Yes, they have won the first prize of Rs 10 crore in the Kerala Monsoon Bumper. They purchased the ticket from an agent in Palakkad named A Kaja Hussain.

Speaking to Oneindia Malayalam, she said that this is the fourth lottery that had taken together. "Earlier, we had won Rs 1,000 in Onam Bumper Draw," Radha said.

Nine of them wanted to buy the ticket priced Rs 250. However, two among them did not have money. So, they asked two others to join them and the 11 members purchased the ticket.

Speaking to PTI, another woman said they were eagerly waiting for the draw but felt sad after someone told them that a ticket sold in neighbouring Palakkad had won the first prize.

"The excitement and happiness knew no bounds when we finally came to know that we hit the jackpot. All of us are facing hardships in life and the money will be a relief to some extent to solve our problems," she said.

The women working in Haritha Karma Sena struggle to meet their ends meet due to humble salaries, but this lottery is going to change their lives.

Haritha Karma Sena is actively involved in gathering non-biodegradable waste from households and establishments. This waste is then sent to shredding units to facilitate the recycling process.

Haritha Karma Sena's chairman Sheeja said the hardworking women deserve the prize amount.

"Many have debts to pay... have daughters to marry off... or have to meet the treatment expenditure of near ones. They are living in very humble households fighting harsh realities of life," she told PTI.
