Crime news: Woman commits suicide in Kochi over Facebook abuse

Kochi, Jan 28:

A woman in Kochi took her own life after reports suggested that police officials failed to investigate a complaint that she had lodged.

The 25-year-old lady had lodged a case of Facebook abuse with the police after her neighbour posted some obscene posts about her on Facebook. According to the complaint, she said that her neighbour allegedly posted that she was having links with several men.

In spite of repeated attempts, the police failed to act on her complaint. The police on the other hand said that they had acted on her complaint and the 'comments on Facebook were soon removed.'

The woman was found hanging in her residence on Sunday night by her husband. The girl's family has alleged that the boy was harassing her through text messages as well.

Two held in Karnataka

Two youths were held in Karnataka for stealing over 100 mobile sets in Thane. Reports suggest that unidentified men had stolen mobile phones worth Rs 12 lakh from a Videocon godown in Thane. Police said that the duo were mobile dealers, who sold some handsets to people.
