Zubeen Garg’s Cousin, APS Officer Sandipan Garg, Arrested Over Singer’s Death

The investigation into the mysterious death of singer Zubeen Garg took a new turn with the arrest of his cousin, Sandipan Garg. Sandipan, an Assam Police Services officer, was detained by the police. He was with Zubeen on a yacht in Singapore when the singer died.

Sandipan Garg, who holds the position of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), was apprehended after multiple interrogations by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID). Earlier, he had been questioned along with several close associates of the late singer.

Arrests and Allegations

Before Sandipan's arrest, four others were taken into custody. These included Shekhar Jyoti Goswami, Zubeen's bandmate; Siddharth Sharma, his manager; Shyamkanu Mahanta, an event organiser; and musician Amritprava Mahanta. The arrests have added layers to the ongoing investigation.

Shekhar Jyoti Goswami accused Zubeen's manager and event organiser of poisoning him. He claimed they chose a foreign location to conceal their actions. These allegations have intensified scrutiny on those involved in organising the event where Zubeen was to perform.

Family's Concerns

Zubeen's wife, Garima Saikia Garg, has expressed doubts about her husband's death. She challenged the autopsy report from Singapore police that ruled out foul play. Garima highlighted significant lapses in the investigation process.

The 52-year-old singer passed away on September 19 while swimming near an island in Singapore. He was there for a performance at the North East India Festival and had gone on a yacht outing during his visit.

Legal Proceedings

Sandipan Garg is set to appear before the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Court today. His arrest follows a series of developments as authorities continue to probe into Zubeen's untimely demise.

The case has captured public attention due to Zubeen's popularity in Bollywood and Assamese music circles. As investigations proceed, many await further revelations regarding this tragic incident.
