Young IPS Officers Urged by Amit Shah to Adopt Ruthless Tactics Against Anti-National Activities
Union Home Minister Amit Shah emphasised the need for young Indian Police Service (IPS) officers to adopt a firm stance against anti-national activities. Addressing the 2023 batch of IPS probationers, Shah highlighted the importance of safeguarding citizens' fundamental rights. He urged the police to be vigilant in reducing crime and ensuring swift justice for citizens.

Shah stressed that protecting the rights of vulnerable groups such as the poor, children, and women is crucial. He stated that national security extends beyond border protection, encompassing the safety of all citizens. "The security of the citizen is the basis of the security of the nation," he remarked.
Security and Rights
The home minister clarified that security involves not just safeguarding life and property but also upholding constitutional rights. He noted that these rights are equally available to every citizen, from the poorest to the prime minister. Police officers bear significant responsibility in this regard.
Shah advised IPS probationers that every task can be improved and holds importance. He mentioned that a police officer's greatest achievement would be being remembered for their positive contributions in their district. "All young officers will have to work with a ruthless approach to eliminate anti-national activities," he reiterated.
Border Security and Internal Challenges
Shah assured that India's borders are now secure, with no one daring to challenge them or the army. He credited efforts made to enhance border security. He also noted progress in reducing violence by 70% in previously troubled areas like Jammu and Kashmir, Northeast India, and regions affected by Left Wing Extremism.
Indian agencies now have complete control over these areas, according to Shah. He also mentioned upcoming changes in criminal laws, which will be fully implemented nationwide within five years. This includes technological upgrades and training at police stations.
Future Legal Reforms
Shah outlined plans for new criminal laws to be operational across all police stations within five years. This will involve technology integration, software development, and training enhancements. Once implemented, justice processes are expected to conclude within three years post-FIR registration.
The home minister concluded by highlighting the importance of keeping national security at the forefront of police work. Officers should remain vigilant to ensure the nation's safety at all times.
