Yogi Adityanath Flags Off Final Match of Uttar Pradesh Premier T20 League at Ekana Stadium

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated the final match of the Uttar Pradesh Premier T20 League, emphasising support for local cricket talent and ongoing sports infrastructure development.

On Saturday, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated the final match of the Uttar Pradesh Premier T20 League at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Stadium. The teams Kashi Rudras and Meerut Mavericks competed in this concluding cricket match. According to a statement, the chief minister interacted with both teams during the event.

Adityanath emphasised the Uttar Pradesh Premier T20 League's role in fostering young cricketers. He urged the Board of Control for Cricket in India to consider granting two IPL teams to Uttar Pradesh, citing its large population of 25 crore. This move would create more opportunities for local talent, he noted.

Sports Infrastructure Development

The chief minister highlighted ongoing efforts to enhance sports infrastructure in the state. He announced that construction of the Varanasi International Cricket Stadium is 70% complete and expected to finish by year-end. Additional stadiums are being built in Ayodhya, Gorakhpur, and Meerut, with plans for an international-level stadium and sports university in Meerut.

Adityanath reiterated his commitment to sports development across various levels. "From villages to blocks and districts, stadiums are being built to nurture talent," he stated. The government is developing grounds in every village, mini stadiums in each block, and full-fledged stadiums in every district.

Engaging Former Players

The chief minister also mentioned that former players are being engaged as coaches to guide emerging talent. This initiative aims to provide young athletes with expert guidance and improve their skills. Such measures are intended to inspire youths to excel in sports.

Adityanath praised the enthusiasm of both players and spectators at the event. He expressed hope that such events would motivate young people to pursue excellence in sports.

The chief minister's remarks underscore a broader strategy to promote sports culture in Uttar Pradesh. By investing in infrastructure and engaging experienced coaches, the state aims to nurture future sports stars.
