Yellow Alert Issued in Bengaluru and Other Districts of Karnataka due to Heavy Rainfall
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has raised a yellow alert for Bengaluru and ten additional districts of Karnataka for two consecutive days until May 31, following heavy rainfall in the region.
The Bengaluru division of the IMD has warned of potential inundation in subways, minor traffic disruptions, and fallen trees in certain areas. Commuters have been advised to remain vigilant and exercise caution during their travels.

The IMD has predicted a high likelihood of downpours in ten districts, including Kodagu, Mysuru, Shivamogga, Chitradurga, Hassan, Gulbarga, Udupi, Chamrajnagar, Dakshina Kannada, and Chikkamagaluru.
Despite the rain ceasing in the IT capital by 10:30 pm on Tuesday, following hours of torrential rainfall, the yellow alert remains in effect.
Until 5:30 pm on Tuesday, Bengaluru recorded a total of 19mm of rainfall. Tech corridors like Bellandur experienced instances of waterlogging, and reports indicate that underpasses near Sankey Road and Lingarajapuram were submerged yesterday evening.
Traffic congestion disrupted the flow of vehicles near the Outer Ring Road.
Karnataka's Deputy Chief Minister, DK Shivakumar, assured that all officers, including commissioners and joint commissioners, are on high alert. He emphasized the importance of citizen safety and urged everyone to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions.
It should be noted that pre-monsoon showers in Bengaluru last week tragically claimed two lives. Among the victims was a 23-year-old who lost her life when her vehicle became submerged in a waterlogged underpass near KR Circle.
Critics have voiced concerns about the mismanagement of the civic body and have labeled the Bengaluru rains as a significant challenge for the government led by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
