Y S Sharmila detained for making objectionable remarks against BRS MLA
The political fight between BRS and the YSRTP is set to intensify following Sharmila's arrest.
YSR Telangana party founder Y S Sharmila was taken into preventive custody in Mahabubabad district in Telangana on Sunday for allegedly making inappropriate comments against Mahabubabad MLA Shankar Naik.

"Telangana CM KCR is a dictator, he is a tyrant, there is no Indian Constitution in Telangana, there is only KCR's Constitution. Telangana is the Afghanistan of India and KCR is its Taliban," said YS Sharmila.
The political fight between BRS and the YSRTP is set to intensify following Sharmila's arrest.
Based on a complaint by a local BRS leader a case was registered against Sharmila under relevant sections of the SC and ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, police said.
The complainant accused Sharmila of 'insulting' the legislator belonging to ST community, through her comments during her ongoing state-wide padayatra 'Praja Prasthanam' in Mahabubabad district on Saturday.
Police said they have cancelled permission for the foot march citing law and order situation, as her statement triggered protests by BRS partymen, demanding action against Sharmila. "We have taken her into preventive custody and for her own safety she is being shifted to Hyderabad," a senior police official told PTI.
Daughter of former united Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Dr YS Rajasekhar Reddy, and sister of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, Sharmila has set out to carve an independent political future in the youngest state of India after reportedly falling out with her brother.
Sharmila, who was previously a homemaker, has been actively participating in various social and political causes for a long time, and her decision to enter politics was highly anticipated by her supporters.
Initially, Sharmila's entry in Telangana politics was seen by some quarters as having KCR's tacit approval in an apparent bid to split the Reddy community vote, affecting the Congress in particular, and indirectly strengthening the TRS' position in the polls.
Following the incident, the BRS staged a sit-in protest in the district against YS Sharmila for her alleged derogatory remarks against Mahabubabad MLA.
The protestors were showing their rage against the YSTRP chief by sloganeering "Go Back Sharmila" and burning the hoardings and flexes of the party.
The padayatra of Sharmila has currently covered over 3,800 km and will complete 4,111 kms when it reaches Palair in Khammam district. A massive public meeting is scheduled to be held on March 5 in Palair, where the padayatra is set to conclude on a high note. The padayatra began on October 20, 2021 from Chevella.
