Woman Discovered Injured in Joynagar, West Bengal; Allegations of Abduction and Rape Arise
A woman was discovered injured in an open field at Joynagar, located in West Bengal's South 24 Parganas district, on Sunday morning, according to police reports. The incident took place in Jangalia village. Initially, she was taken to a local medical centre and later transferred to Baruipur Hospital. Although her condition is stable, it remains serious, as stated by a senior police officer.

Family members reported that the woman left home on Saturday night but never reached her intended destination. "We have launched a probe and the culprits will be nabbed soon," said the officer. The investigation aims to uncover the circumstances surrounding her injuries and identify those responsible.
Allegations of Abduction and Assault
Union minister and state BJP president Sukanta Majumdar alleged in a post on X that the woman was "abducted and brutally raped." He claimed, "In Joynagar, a married young woman was abducted and brutally raped, after which an attempt was made to strangle her with a scarf. Villagers found her in a critical condition in an open field and rescued her. However, from the abduction to the rape, the police failed to trace the culprit!"
Majumdar also criticised Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for not addressing the issue publicly. He expressed his discontent with her silence over such incidents. The Union Minister of State for Education & Development of North Eastern Region voiced his concerns about the state's handling of crimes against women.
Political Criticism and Public Outcry
The BJP leader further condemned the state government, questioning its ability to protect women. He wrote on X, "Even on the day of Saraswati Puja, the brutality of crimes against women did not stop in West Bengal! Yet, the shameless female Chief Minister of Bengal has not uttered a single word! What kind of monstrous government is running in West Bengal, where brutal murders and rapes are happening every day? How many more women in West Bengal will lose their dignity and lives because of your shameless appeasement of criminals."
The incident has sparked significant public outrage and political debate. Many are calling for swift action and justice for the victim. The situation highlights ongoing concerns about women's safety in the region.
Authorities continue their investigation into this distressing case. They aim to bring those responsible to justice while addressing public concerns about safety and accountability.
