Woman Fakes Kidnapping in Kota to Pursue Medical Education in Russia
In a startling revelation from Kota, Rajasthan, a woman from Madhya Pradesh concocted her own kidnapping to secure funds for her medical studies in Russia. The police disclosed this information following the interrogation of Kavya Dhakad and her accomplice Harshit, who were apprehended in Indore and subsequently brought to Kota for questioning.

The investigation into Dhakad's disappearance was initiated after her father, Raghuveer Dhakad, reported her missing on March 18. It was later discovered that Dhakad had left for Indore shortly after arriving in Kota on August 2, 2023, under the pretense of enrolling in coaching classes. Despite her physical absence, she continued to mislead her parents with messages and photos suggesting she was still in Kota.
The situation escalated when Dhakad's parents received a ransom demand of Rs 30 lakh along with distressing images of their daughter. This led to the involvement of the police, who traced Dhakad and Harshit to Indore. During interrogation, Dhakad confessed that the fear of disappointing her parents over failing medical entrance exams drove her to fabricate the kidnapping story with Harshit's assistance.
The duo's elaborate scheme included making a ransom call to Dhakad's parents from Jaipur on March 18, before fleeing to Chandigarh and Amritsar, and eventually returning to Indore. Their apprehension by Indore police on Tuesday marked the end of their fortnight-long disappearance.
As the investigation continues, legal proceedings against Dhakad and Harshit for their deceit are being considered. They remain in police custody, with authorities deliberating on the appropriate course of action.
