New Delhi, Aug 27: It appears as though the succession battles within the underworld have taken a turn. While it was largely expected that Dawood Ibrahim would be succeeded by his son and Chhota Shakeel his, there has been a major twist in the tale.
Reports have suggested that like Dawood's son, Chhota Shakeel's son too has become a maulana in Pakistan. The decision to embrace the spiritual path was taken by Shakeel's 18 year old son, Mubashir Shaikh.
Shaikh, who is Shakeel's third and youngest son is said to have memorised the Quran, before which he embraced the spiritual path. An officer with the intelligence confirmed this development to OneIndia and said that it is now clear that the Dawood syndicate will be handled by Anees Ibrahim, the brother of the fugitive don.
This development comes close on the heels of Dawood's son Moin becoming a maulana. This revelation was made by Iqbal Kaskar, Dawood's brother who was arrested Anti Extortion Cell. He said that Dawood was in a state of depression after Moin decided not to follow the family business and become a Maulana instead.
The succession battle:
Shakeel, who was Dawood's closest aid would have hoped that his son too over the reigns from him.
The news relating to the death of Shakeel has been confirmed by many. In fact rumour has it that it was Anees with the help of the ISI, who ordered the hit on Shakeel last year.
Dawood on the other hand would have hoped that his son took over his empire, but with Moin becoming a maulana and Shaikh following suit, the doors are wide open for Anees. There are reports that Anees and Shakeel could not get along as the former wanted a bigger pie in the underworld.
Moreover Dawood was keen that Shakeel handled the India business, while Anees took care of international affairs. The underworld in Mumbai is more comfortable working with Shakeel when compared to Anees. However with now Shakeel and his son going out of the picture, the take over for Anees becomes clear.
