With coward Amritpal Singh on the run, Centre set to get cracking soon

Radical Sikh leader, Amritpal Singh has managed to dodge the watchful eyes of nearly 80,000 cops in Punjab.

The Punjab police had released pictures of him last night, in which he is seen in various attires.

The radical leader, who has been leading violent protests in Punjab managed to escape like a coward when the cops came tapping on his doors. He took the help of Gurdwara to escape from the cops. He also changed his escape vehicles a couple of times before giving the cops the slip.

The ease with which Singh managed to escape raises questions on the efficiency of such a large police force which guards a border state.

"You have 80,000 cops. What were they doing? How did Amritpal Singh escape," the Punjab High Court had remarked.

Singh was last seen speeding away in a motor-cycle on Saturday evening in Jalandhar.

Amritpal Singh is just one part of the problem where the Khalistan movement is concerned. The issue is a deep-rooted one and is being funded by Pakistan to keep Punjab on the boil.

The arrest of Daljit Singh Kalsi, an aide of Amritpal Singh is a clear indicator that Pakistan has a hand in this movement. Not only was he a part of the conspiracy to vandalise the Ajnala police station, but he has been in active liaison with the Pakistani establishment through the Consulate General in Vancouver and Dubai.

Looking at the multiple links to this issue, the Centre is likely to step in soon to reign in on the menace.

It is a probe to be taken over by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) an official explained to OneIndia. Look at the ramifications involved here. It does not restrict itself to Punjab alone. It has a Pakistan link, connections in the United Kingdom, Italy, Canada and United States.

Experts are of the view that the Punjab police will not be able to handle the issue. There is too much politics involved in this case and hence it is about time that the Centre takes control of the situation. While it is good to see that the Punjab Police acting on the issue at last, it is clear that the desired results have not been met. The state police clearly need the help of the Centre here, the expert cited above explained.

Another official explained that the Intelligence agencies are gathering more information about Amritpal Singh and a dossier in this regard is in the making. The dossier is likely to contain, Amritpal's hate speeches, demands for a separate Khalistan nation among his other acts.

Union Home Minister, Amit Shah had said recently that the movement will not flourish. We are in touch with the Punjab government and are monitoring the situation closely, Shah and said.
