With 711 new infections, Maharashtra sees 186% rise in daily covid cases
Maharashtra on Tuesday saw a rise in daily Covid-19 cases by 186 percent with 711 new infections reported in the last 24 hours - out of which 281 cases were reported from Mumbai alone. According to the state health bulletin data, the active caseload now stands at 3,792 in the state.

A total of four Covid-related deaths (Satara-2, Pune-1, Ratnagiri - 1) were also reported in the past 24 hours. The case fatality rate in the state is currently 1.82 per cent.
On Monday, the state logged only 248 cases. This is likely due to fewer people going for testing in the weekend. On Sunday, Maharashtra reported 562 new Covid-19 cases.
Amid rise in Covid cases in Mumbai and Maharashtra, state health minister Tanaji Sawant said there is no need to panic as the situation is being monitored continuously. He further informed that the state would be conducting a mock drill on April 13-14.
"It's true that Covid numbers are increasing but it's not affecting much as it's a very mild variant which is prevalent in the state. No need to panic at all but everyone should take precautions while going to crowded places," ANI quoted Sawant as saying.
"I have talked to all the Covid hospitals and can update you that no patient is on ventilator or oxygen support in Maharashtra. It's very satisfactory that patients are recovering only in 48-72 hours. So nothing to worry much about because Prevalent XBB.1.16 is not as lethal as Delta variant was in second wave of Covid," the minister said.
