Why 'Pathaan' is unlikely to beat 'KGF 2' lifetime collection
'Pathaan' has minted over Rs 939.38 crore at the worldwide box office, but still far away from beating the lifetime collection of Yash's 'KGF 2'.
Mumbai, Feb 14: Shah Rukh Khan's 'Pathaan' has given a new lease of life to Bollywood as the movie has become one of the biggest hits of an A-list actor of the Hindi film industry.
Siddharth Anand-starrer has now surpassed the lifetime collection of Salman Khan's 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan' which minted Rs 918.18 crore in its lifetime. Now, the industry is eagerly waiting to see King Khan's film cross Rs 1000 crore mark at the worldwide box office.

As of now, the movie has earned Rs 939.38 crore at the worldwide box office. Now, the biggest question that trade analysts are asking: Will it beat the lifetime collection of 'KGF 2'?
The collection of 'Pathaan' is way ahead of 'KGF 2' in the Hindi belt. On the first day, Yash-starrer raked in Rs 53.95 crore while Shah Rukh Khan's film earned Rs 57 crore.
'Pathaan' ended its first weekend collection at Rs 280.75 crore whereas 'KGF 2' earned Rs 193.99 crore. Similarly, Shah Rukh's film amassed Rs 378.15 crore in the first week, while Yash's film made a collection of Rs 268.63 crore. Since the day one, the business of Siddharth Anand's movie is way ahead of Prashanth Neel's crime thriller from the Hindi version.
Despite overpowering 'KGF 2' from the first day in the Hindi market, the overall collection of Shah Rukh Khan's film has been lesser than 'KGF 2'. While 'Pathaan' has earned Rs 938.38 crore in 20 days, 'KGF 2' crossed Rs 1000-crore mark in 16 days itself.

What turned out to be a boon for 'KGF 2' was it was universally accepted by audience across the nation while 'Pathaan' has largely done well in the Hindi belts. Apart from the lifetime collection of Rs 434.70 crore in the Hindi belt, Prashanth Neel's film managed to earn over Rs 400 crore from South India alone.
As a result, the movie went on to amass Rs 1250+ crore at the worldwide box office in its lifetime. However, the signs of slowing down of business of 'Pathaan' is visible as the movie could earn only Rs 40 crore (approximately) in the third weekend. The collection is expected to fizzle out in another week and a little bit of struggle the movie might breach into Rs 1000 crore.
So, 'Pathaan' is highly unlikely to beat the lifetime collection of 'KGF 2'.
In the history of Indian cinema, only four movies have crossed Rs 1000 crore-mark such as 'Dangal', 'Baahubali 2', 'KGF 2' and 'RRR'.
