Why Is Haryana’s Nuh Tense Again? Top Points

Stringent security measures are being implemented in anticipation of a religious procession in Nuh, Haryana, despite authorities denying permission for the event.

The procession, known as a shobha yatra, was due to take place on 28 August, the final Monday of the holy month of Shravan. It was organised by the Sarv Jatiya Hindu Mahapanchayat, a Hindu group.

The Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP), another Hindu group, has said it intends to go ahead with the procession, arguing that no permission is required for religious events. However, the authorities have refused to grant permission.

The call for the shobha yatra comes after clashes on 31 July, which left six people dead. A VHP procession was attacked by a group of people, and the violence spread to the neighbouring city of Gurugram.
