Who Is Sita Soren? Woman Who Questions Likely Appointment Of Kalpana Soren As Next CM

Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, who is being questioned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in relation to a case over ownership of an "illegal" mining lease, is now facing the heat from his own family members. According to the reports, since it was speculated that Hemant Soren might hand over reigns of the state government to his wife Kalpana Soren, his sister-in-law and Jamma MLA Sita Soren has started opposing the decision. The reports said that a rift in the family might occure after Sita Soren expressed her aspiration to become Chief Minister of Jharkhand.

Notably, she also skipped the meeting called by Hemant Soren on Tuesday to seek support for Kalpana Soren as CM from his party MLAs and alliance partners, Congress and RJD.

Talking to the media, Sita Soren said after the demise of her husband Durga Soren, who contributed a lot to strengthen the state party, she continued the legacy and powered the party with her best. She asked the CM why she has to sacrifice always? She accepted the decision to hand over the throne to Hemant Soren earlier, but now, she would not allow Kalpana Soren to take over.

Who Is Sita Soren?

Jharkhand Mukti Morch (JMM) MLA from the Jamma constituency in the Dumka district, Sita Soren is the wife of the late Dugra Soren and elder son to JMM founder and former Chief Minister Shibu Soren. According to the information shared on the internet by MyNeta, Sita Soren declared assets worth more than Rs 4 crores in 2019. Notably, in 2009, she only had assets for only Rs 1.36 crores.

The data states that Sita Soren has passed class 12 and three cases are pending against her including two cases of bribery.
