Who Is Sanjay Malhotra, New RBI Governor To Replace Shaktikanta Das

Malhotra takes over from Shaktikanta Das, who was expected to receive an extension for a third term, potentially leading until December 2026.

Malhotra's career spans over 33 years, showcasing his leadership across various sectors such as power, finance, taxation, information technology, and mining. Currently, he serves as the Secretary (Revenue) in the Ministry of Finance. Previously, he was the Secretary in the Department of Financial Services under the same ministry.

Sanjay Malhotra is an Indian Administrative Service Officer from the 1990 Rajasthan Cadre batch. He holds an engineering degree in Computer Science from IIT Kanpur and a Master's degree in Public Policy from Princeton University in the USA.
