RJD leader Lalu Prasad Yadav's daughter Rohini Acharya has become the focus of national attention after declaring that she is cutting all connections with her family following the 2025 Bihar election results.

The emotional fallout has also led many to take interest in her personal life abroad, where she lives with her husband, their daughter Ananya, and sons Aditya and Arihant.

Married Life and International Move

Rohini Acharya tied the knot with Samaresh Singh in 2002. Soon after their marriage, the couple moved to the United States. They later chose Singapore as their permanent residence, where they now live with their three children.

Samaresh Singh's Family and Education

According to available media reports, Samaresh is the son of former Income Tax commissioner rank officer Rao Ranvijay Singh. He attended Delhi University for his BA in Economics and later completed a Master's degree in Economics, Finance and International Business from the Delhi School of Economics. He also holds an MBA in Finance from INSEAD Business School.

Career and Current Role in Singapore

Samaresh is presently serving as Managing Director in Investment Banking, Mergers and Acquisitions at Evercore in Singapore. Before joining Evercore, he worked in senior positions at Standard Chartered Bank and built a strong global corporate career in the finance and investment sector.

Rohini's Emotional Post and Political Reactions

Acharya shared an emotional message online regarding allegations that emerged within her family. Her post stated, "For me, it became a huge sin that I didn't look after my family, my three children, didn't take permission from my husband or my in-laws when donating the kidney... I did what I did to save my god, my father, and today it's been called dirty... May none of you ever make a mistake like mine, may no family ever have a daughter like Rohini."

The controversy prompted national political responses. BJP leaders targeted the RJD, arguing that Lalu Prasad Yadav had prioritised his son Tejashwi Yadav despite accepting a kidney from his daughter. Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sinha remarked, "The anarchy that was visible outside RJD is also reflected inside the family. People with such a mentality, who cannot keep their own family together, how can they run Bihar? It is their personal matter, so we will not say much, but this mentality will decide their future."
