Who Are Pratap Sarangi And Mukesh Rajput? BJP MPs Caught in Rahul Gandhi Row

In a recent incident that has stirred political circles, Pratap Chandra Sarangi, a two-time MP from Balasore, Odisha, and Mukesh Rajput, representing Farrukhabad in Uttar Pradesh, sustained injuries. They were allegedly thrust aside by Opposition MPs amid disputes concerning the B R Ambedkar topic. The altercation led to both MPs being rushed to RML Hospital for treatment. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, concerned about their well-being, made calls to inquire after their health. Reports indicate that Rajput has been placed in the ICU, highlighting the severity of the confrontation.

Pratap Chandra Sarangi, notable for his modest lifestyle and outspoken nature, has been a prominent figure in Indian politics, particularly in Odisha. His journey to the limelight began in 2019 when images of him preparing to leave for Delhi from his humble thatched house went viral on social media platforms. Known for his austerity and as a maverick political activist, Sarangi has consistently maintained a clear stance on his personal life, often described as straightforward and unembellished. His electoral success in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, where he overcame formidable opponents, underscores his popularity and the respect he commands within his constituency.

Sarangi's political career is marked by his tenure as a Union Minister of State and his significant victories in both the 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Despite facing competition from influential politicians, his dedication to his constituents and his straightforward approach helped him secure over 1 lakh votes in the latter. Besides his political achievements, Sarangi has been forthright about his personal life, disclosing assets and acknowledging his sources of income in his election affidavit.

On the other hand, Mukesh Rajput, a distinguished Lodh leader in Uttar Pradesh and a three-time MP from Farrukhabad, has carved a niche for himself in state politics. His association with former Chief Minister Kalyan Singh and his tenure as the state vice-president of Singh's Jan Kranti Party mark significant milestones in his political journey. Rajput's rise to prominence was solidified by his victories in the Lok Sabha elections, where he defeated notable opponents, including Salman Khurshid, showcasing his political acumen and widespread support.

Rajput's legislative contributions are evident in his active participation in various parliamentary committees, including those on Agriculture and the Local Area Development Scheme. His clean record, as indicated by the absence of any criminal cases against him, alongside his substantial movable and immovable assets, reflects his position as a respected and influential leader.
